Punjab e-Stamp Verification in Pakistan: Check a Property Challan Before Paying

Check Punjab property e-stamp and challan details through official services, reconcile payment evidence, and keep registration and ownership checks separate.

By MarkMyProperty · Updated

Coverage: Punjab, Pakistan; the portal and property-duty workflow described here do not apply automatically to other provinces.

Understand what you are verifying

A property e-stamp or challan is part of the duty and payment workflow, not a certificate that the seller owns the land. Before sending money, ask what document is being prepared, which charges the challan covers and whose transaction details appear on it. Keep the duty payment separate from the price payable to the seller.

Punjab’s official e-Stamping Citizen Portal and published user guide provide challan-related functions. PLRA also provides a payment service that retrieves details using a challan number. Use the official service for the exact document supplied and record whether you are seeing a generated challan, payment result or issued stamp.

Compare the transaction details before payment

Enter the reference yourself through the official portal rather than opening an unfamiliar payment link sent in a message. Compare the parties, document type, property details and amounts with the proposed transaction. Ask the registration professional to explain which fields are required and who must correct an error.

An amount that looks plausible does not make the rest of the form correct. If a name, identity reference, property location or document category differs, stop the reconciliation and ask for a corrected official record. Do not hand-edit a downloaded copy and assume the database has changed.

  • Record the challan number and service used.
  • Match parties and property details to the draft.
  • Separate stamp duty, registration fee and other displayed charges.
  • Confirm the approved payment route and recipient before paying.

Keep payment and issued-document evidence together

After payment, retain the bank or authorised payment receipt, transaction reference and the relevant official status or stamp output. The user guide distinguishes challan and payment information; a form prepared for payment should not be treated as evidence that funds have already been received. Ask for help if the portal and receipt show conflicting results.

Check any printing or verification function through the official service and save a dated result. Confirm current fees and procedures at the time of the transaction. Published screenshots can explain the workflow, but their example amounts are not your current tax assessment or a quote for every property.

A fictional reconciliation problem

This example explains a document check and does not allege a problem with any listing.

Payment worksheet

A paid receipt beside the wrong property details

A buyer receives a payment receipt and a challan showing a different village from the agreed parcel. Instead of treating the receipt as clearance, the buyer records both references and asks the responsible official how the transaction should be corrected.

The seller’s price payment remains a separate entry. The buyer asks for the proper duty evidence and registration documents, then continues the ownership investigation using the correct parcel identifiers.

Continue with registration and title checks

A verified payment record does not replace the registered instrument, mutation process or Fard checks. Connect each document to the same property and parties. Ask a local lawyer how the deed, land record, seller authority and any charges fit together before completing the purchase.

When browsing Pakistan listings, first confirm that the property is in Punjab before applying this portal workflow. Use the map to compare locations and request the actual document references from the lister. MarkMyProperty does not issue e-stamps or verify duty payment, ownership or government records.

Can I use Punjab’s e-stamping procedure for all of Pakistan?

No. Check the province and competent authority for the actual property and transaction.
