Moldova: property tax after the owner changes

The State Tax Service practice base says that, after the fiscal year has started, the new owner’s property tax is calculated from state registration of the rights. A register extract is a different document.

Coverage: Moldova. The State Tax Service generalised practice base on calculating the tax on immovable property, answers 5.6.2 and 5.6.4, fetched on 2 November 2026. Those answers do not print a rate. They are not the register-extract guide.

On 2 November 2026, the State Tax Service page on calculating the tax on immovable property was fetched. Answer 5.6.2, added on 12 October 2017 under Order No. 1638 of 24 November 2014, asks who calculates the tax when the owner changes during the fiscal year. It says that if the taxable person changes after the fiscal year has begun, the tax for the new taxable person is calculated from the moment of state registration of the patrimonial rights in the immovable property, or from the moment it is established that the person is exercising possession, use, and/or disposal. It cites Fiscal Code article 281(2). It says that, under article 281, paragraph (21), as that answer prints the citation, the previous taxable person may request or carry out a calculation of the tax in proportion to the period in which that person held that status.

Answer 5.6.4 on the same page, added on 27 November 2014 under the same order, says that for natural persons who are citizens the tax is calculated by the local tax-collection services of the mayoralties, with the participation of the territorial state tax inspectorates. It again cites article 281(2): where new objects of taxation appear after the fiscal period has begun, the tax is calculated from state registration of the ownership rights, or from the moment the exercise of possession, use, and/or disposal is established. Neither answer prints a rate or a sample tax for a flat.

The answers are dated on the page

The page still displays those two answers with the dates above. This page does not treat a later payment calendar on a different State Tax Service page as part of these answers.

MarkMyProperty is operated by MMYP TECHNOLOGIES (OPC) PRIVATE LIMITED. Head office: Delhi NCR, India. It charges no platform brokerage commission. A pin, a user-drawn outline, or a contact reveal does not establish title or ownership.

Those sentences are those two answers. They are not the register-extract guide, which was not rewritten. A pin or a contact reveal does not establish title, and an asking price is not the taxable base. This page does not set out a payment.
