Bigha, marla, kanal, and cent are not form units

The questions asked for a size, a price, and unrelated words

On 1 November 2026, Google’s “what is a bigha” list asked about land measurement, English, whether a bigha equals an acre, and a 1.5 acre conversion, and also about a corridor. Bing then drifted to a hat, a ham, a hammer, bread, and a bend in a coast. “1 bigha land for sale” with the India parameter included Haridwar, Jaipur, Dehradun, Unnao, Lucknow, and Siliguri, plus phrases “under 10 lakhs”. “5 marla house for sale” included Jammu, Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali, Hoshiarpur, and Lahore, and some lines said price without a figure this page will repeat. “1 kanal house for sale” included Chandigarh sectors, Panchkula, Mohali, Lahore, and Islamabad. “10 cent plot for sale” included Calicut, Munnar, Kannur, Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram, Thiruvalla, and Wayanad.

“Plot for sale in gaj” did not return the gaj unit. It returned place names such as Gajularamaram, Gajapati Nagar, Gajraula, Gajuwaka, and Gajwel. That is a letter collision, not a unit list.

The listing form offers five area units: sq ft, m², sq yd, acres, and hectares. Bigha, marla, kanal, and cent are not among those buttons. A new listing cannot be saved as “1 bigha” through the form. If a lister means a local unit, they choose a form unit they will stand behind and write the local unit in the description. The website’s own area note says bigha, kanal, and marla vary by region. This page does not publish a ratio, does not answer “is bigha equal to acre” with a number, and does not copy 10 lakhs as a price. Older stored listings may still display a unit that was saved earlier. The figure shown is the stored figure, not a new survey.

What an area figure still is

The area is the lister’s number and unit. A drawn outline can show a calculated area in square metres, square feet, and acres. That calculation is not a bigha and not title. Owner, Broker, and Developer are roles.
