The lists asked what the letters mean, then named places
On 1 November 2026, Google’s “what is an adu” list included “in real estate”, “in housing”, and “unit”, and then unrelated adult phrases. “Adu for sale” included California, Florida, San Jose, San Diego, Los Angeles, Massachusetts, Sacramento, and the Bay Area. “Granny flat for rent” included San Diego, Ramona, Vacaville, La Mesa, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, and Perth.
No statute, planning code, or housing page was opened. This page does not expand ADU into a legal definition.
Describe the extra dwelling in ordinary types

There is no ADU type and no Granny flat type. If the offer is a separate small home, use the dwelling type that matches and write ADU or granny flat in the description. Sell it and Rent it out are different purposes. Say whether the extra dwelling is the whole offer or sits with a main house, and whether the land is included. The listing does not permit construction.
Adult phrases are a different word
The “what is an adu” list drifted into adult-care phrases. Those are not this product and not a property type.
What the letters do not settle
A pin does not show a second unit, a kitchen, or the right to rent it. Owner, Broker, and Developer are roles. Contact reveal does not establish title or a building approval.
